A Bluesman's Recovery

An excerpt from Larry's "Recovery" chapter in Stepson of the Blues: "Drugs can cause you to hang around people who can do you a lot of harm. They can set you up and lure you somewhere and take your money. One woman lured me to an apartment in 2005 where there were guys with guns getting ready to shoot me. For some reason they thought I had money. “There he goes, get him,” one man yelled! But somehow time stretched out real long, and the guy with the gun in his hand stood frozen to the floor. I slipped out the door behind him and escaped. I ran two miles, from Chicago Avenue and Central, all the way home to Division and LeClaire. I hadn’t run that far in a long time. I was more out of breath from being scared than out of shape. That was one of my nine lives, right there. For some reason, God had spared me again." Have you ever had an experience like Larry did, where you feel that a Higher Power saved you from yourself?
